Radjesvarane ALEXANDRE

Brief Introduction

Radjesvarane (Radja) ALEXANDRE.

Born in 1966, received his Ph.D. in 1993 from the University of Paris VI, France, and held positions successively at University of Orléans and University of Evry, in France. He is now Professor of Applied Mathematics at Arts et Métiers ParisTech, France.

From 2007 till 2012, he was deputy director of the Naval Academy Research Institute, France,  as well as the leader of Under Water Acoustics Group. 

From 2010 to 2014, he was Chair Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with support from Institute of Natural Sciences.

From 2013 to 2015, he was Director of Education and International Relations at ParisTech, a French public institution gathering together twelve of the most important Grandes Ecoles in France.

Since 2016, he is Director of Research, Innovation and Technology Transfert at USTH, Vietnam France University, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi.

Research Highlights

Radjesvarane ALEXANDRE has a proven track record in mathematical fields such as Cauchy problem for kinetic equations (plasma physics), with related links with Harmonic Analysis, as well as Underwater Acoustics and Signal analysis. 

One his main works were focused on Boltzmann equation for long range interactions. Together with Cédric VILLANI (2010 Fields Medal), they have introduced a notion of weak solution which have enabled them to completely justify the transition from this Boltzmann equation towards another well known model of kinetic theory, the Landau equation. 

Other relevant topics include homogenization theory, applied mathematics for engineering sciences, and special signal processing.

Projects Management

He has managed various projects related to research activities. Further projects were focused on training programs in french engineering schools, with a strong link with industrial companies, the development of international collaborations dealing with joint training and research program activities.

At USTH, he is in charge of the implementation of Joint International Laboratories, and developement of engeneering applications towards technology transfer.
