Dr. Tran Dinh Phong obtained his HDR degree in Chemistry at University Grenoble Alpes (France) in 2016 and PhD in Chemistry at University Paris Sud XI (now known as University Paris Saclay, France) in 2008. He joined University of Science and Technology of Hanoi in July 2015 after 03 years experiences as postdoctoral research associate at CEA and CNRS, France (2008-2010) and over 05 years experiences as independent senior research fellow at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. In the academic year 2017-2018, he served as an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Hanyang University, Korea.  

Since December 2019, he has been appointed as an Associate Professor of Chemistry at USTH. He is the founding Director of the Department of Fundamental and Applied Sciences at USTH.

His current research interests focus on chemistry of molecular catalysts, functional nanomaterials for applications in energy conversion and storage. His research has been funded by several public and private funding organizations/ foundations like NAFOSTED, VAST, French Embassy in Vietnam, VINIF. He has published 01 book chapter and over 80 papers and articles in international per-review journals, including prestigious journals like Science, Nature Materials, Nature Chemistry, Angewandte Chime, Energy Environmental Sciences, ACS Nano etc. His current citation record is over 7000 and H index is 35.

He was awarded Ta Quang Buu prize in 2018 for his excellent research contribution.
